Alberta College of Pharmacists – Jurisprudence Module
The Project: Jurisprudence Learning Module
The Client: Alberta College of Pharmacists (ACP)
The Problem: Each year, prospective Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians from around the world move to Alberta and wish to begin their practice. Prior to being licensed, the prospective licensees need to successfully pass the Jurisprudence exam. The College wanted to provide an engaging self-study learning module to assist these professionals with the process of preparing for the exam.
The Solution: ACP’s primary goal was for this 10-hour module to be engaging for learners. We met this goal by building a wide variety of learning experiences within the framework of the intuitive Leara Elevate interface. We focused on providing meaningful interactions throughout with an emphasis on scenario-based learning. The Elevate interface provides quick visual access to the content, and is seamlessly integrated into the ACP’s existing backend to provide bookmarking and various levels of completion tracking (by slide, by chapter and by module). By leveraging ACP’s existing backend, we were able to provide all of the tracking offered by an LMS without the cost, and we passed the savings along to the client. Statistics on user responses to questions are also generated and can be accessed via custom Excel reports.
A user survey was provided to each student upon completion. The results of this survey were very positive, with an average overall module rating of 4.12 out of 5. User’s self-rated knowledge increased from an average of 2.77 out of 5 before taking the module, to an average of 3.94 out of 5 after taking the module – a 42% increase. 100% of users either agreed or strongly agreed that they would refer their colleagues to the module.
